Statement of Faith
In light of our nation and world's present financial situation, my son, Stephen, half jokingly asked me the other day, "Dad, how are your retirement funds doing?" I said jokingly, "I'll have to be like Caleb in the Old Testament at 85 years old. I will have to ask God to give me the strength to take the hill country."

As I thought about what I said jokingly, I realized that I truly do hope at 85 years of age to be going strong in my service to my Lord. God does not have a retirement plan for His work for His children while we are here on earth. We are all called to serve Him all of our lives.

Jesus offers us a life that is built on a solid foundation that has present and eternal benefits. Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)

God's promises are sure and do not change. In Colossians 1:5-6 Paul writes, "The Message is as true among you today as when you first heard it. It doesn't diminish or weaken over time. It's the same all over the world. The Message bears fruit and gets larger and stronger, just as it has in you." God's message, the good news of Jesus, doesn't diminish or weaken. There are no certainties with earthly financial investments. However, investing our lives with Jesus is sure and the best investment that we will ever make. Our God is all powerful, and He keeps His promises.

In Christ,
Mark
